Planned Giving

You can support the Association of Concert Bands in a variety of ways with a gift that makes an impact now—or a gift that will create your legacy for community bands. With any of these gift options, you will help the ACB continue our mission into the future.  These gifts are called "planned gifts," because with thoughtful planning, you create win-win solutions for you and the Association of Concert Bands. These gifts are also sometimes referred to as "Legacy gifts."

Matching Gifts

Matching gifts are gifts made during your lifetime and help maximize your support for ACB. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions. See if your employer matches gifts to double or possibly triple your donation!

A Gift in Your Will (Bequest)

A gift through your will  is a very special way of ensuring that your support for the Association of Concert Bands continues for generations to come. Bequests may reduce taxes on your estate while furthering your legacy through the mission of ACB.

  • You can leave a small percentage of your estate—even 1% can make a real difference!
  • You can leave a defined sum to ACB.
  • You can leave a percentage of funds left over after other gifts and debts are paid and your loved ones are provided for.
  • You can make a secondary or contingent gift that only comes to ACB if your other beneficiaries do not survive you or other specific gifts cannot be fulfilled.

Work with your attorney or financial planner to determine what is best for you and your family.  Wording in your will may look like this example.

I give and bequeath to the Association of Concert Bands, Inc., a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization (Tax ID number 22-2226114) organized in the State of New York in 1978, now maintaining an address at 244 Argonne Drive, Kenmore, NY 14217 and mailing address of PO Box 6601, Newport News, VA 23606, the sum of $X (or X% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) for its general purposes (or other purposes).

Name ACB as a Life Insurance Beneficiary

Providing for the Association of Concert Bands as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy you no longer need will preserve your legacy in the arts with a non-taxable income for ACB. This is done through a change of beneficiary form with the company your Life Insurance plan is through and provide our legal name and Tax ID Number:  Association of Concert Bands Inc.  22-2226114.

A Gift of Stock

Giving long-term appreciated stock is another way to make a charitable gift to the Association of Concert Bands. A gift of publicly-traded securities potentially saves income and capital gains taxes while also supporting the mission of the ACB. You will need to work with your broker and the ACB Treasurer to set up the transfer of DTC-eligible shares. Please begin by downloading this form which also has contact information and further instructions.

Other ways to establish planned gifts

It’s easy to name the Association of Concert Bands as a partial or total beneficiary of your retirement accounts, Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), and other financial accounts, including your bank and brokerage accounts

  1. Contact your retirement plan administrator, bank, or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form. You may be able to request or download your form from your online account portal.
  2. Decide if you would like to name ACB as a primary or secondary beneficiary, and the percentage you would like us to receive. When you designate us as a secondary beneficiary, we receive the gift only if your primary beneficiary does not survive you.
  3. Be sure to include our legal name and Tax ID Number:  Association of Concert Bands Inc.  22-2226114
  4. Please let us know. Some financial institutions will not notify us after your lifetime that we are a beneficiary; sharing your wishes now helps ensure your gift will be distributed as you wish.

Make a donation by mail

If you wish to make a donation by check, please send your check payable to "Association of Concert Bands" to PO Box 6601, Newport News, VA 23606 with a letter for any instructions for earmarking your donation.
