Email from President Susan Sands to the ACB Membership on 11/13/2020 announcing the results of the The North American Band Survey.

Dear ACB Members,

As you may remember this past September, the Association of Concert Bands was invited to participate in The North American Band Survey, a joint initiative between the American Bandmasters Association (ABA), the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), the National Band Association (NBA), and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).  The goal of this survey was to collect data pertaining to the operational practices and teaching strategies from beginning bands to community bands during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are delighted to let you know that the results of this survey are finally available.  You can access the complete data set by clicking on the link below.  The link also provides a very basic “instructional video” on how to maneuver through the data.  You will find that with over 2200 submissions, there is a lot of good data to sort through.

Lastly, the survey results are available to anybody!  Please feel free to share this information with anyone you feel may be interested – teachers, directors, musicians, composers, music businesses, administrators, Board members – anyone!

Special thanks to the ABA, CBDNA, NBA and NFHS for conducting this survey; and, thank you for being a proud member of ACB!

All the best,

Susan Sands

President, The Association of Concert Bands
